Saab has revealed a new strategic cooperation with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) focused on developing an Unmanned Airborne Early Warning (UAEW) solution utilizing the MQ-9B unmanned platform.
The partnership brings together Saab’s world-class AEW&C systems expertise and GA-ASI’s industry-leading unmanned aircraft technology. The UAEW system will feature Saab’s AEW sensors integrated with the MQ-9B, offering persistent, real-time surveillance capabilities over designated mission areas.
This unmanned solution is designed to enhance Saab’s existing AEW&C lineup, including the GlobalEye, and will provide defense forces with a versatile, scalable option, suitable for both airborne and naval operations. It can also be deployed in manned-unmanned teaming configurations, offering greater tactical flexibility.
With Saab’s decades-long experience in AEW systems delivery to NATO and allied nations, this cooperation aims to set a new benchmark in unmanned air surveillance technology.
