Raytheon Technologies has officially begun initial production of the SharpSight multi-domain surveillance radar, a cutting-edge system designed to redefine airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. The radar offers high-resolution, real-time imaging at high altitudes and provides wide-area detection and tracking across terrestrial and maritime domains under any environmental or lighting condition.
Derived from Raytheon’s heritage systems such as the Highly Integrated Synthetic Aperture Radar and SeaVue Multi-Role Radar, SharpSight blends proven reliability with advanced modern features. Its modular open-architecture design facilitates seamless integration with a variety of manned aircraft and unmanned aerial systems (UAS), while allowing cost-effective scalability and upgrades to meet evolving mission demands.
The multi-mission radar supports an array of operations including coastal patrol, border protection, counter-surface operations, and search and rescue. Its integrated automatic identification system allows it to simultaneously track, detect, and categorize over 1,000 maritime or land-based targets, offering unmatched operational clarity and data accuracy.
With a 320-nautical-mile detection range and a total system weight of just 129 kilograms (284 pounds), SharpSight balances performance with portability. The radar also provides multiple antenna configurations in different sizes and geometries, making it adaptable for diverse mission platforms and operational scenarios.
