The Portuguese Navy has awarded a contract to OSI Maritime Systems to supply navigation systems for its six forthcoming Viana do Castelo-class offshore patrol ships. According to the agreement, the company’s Integrated Navigation and Tactical System (INTS) will facilitate the fleet’s “paperless” maritime transits. NATO’s bathymetric, water space, and tactical symbol requirements were followed in the creation of the company’s flagship Electronic Chart Display and Information System 7 (ECPINS 7), which is part of the technology.
