To meet evolving operational challenges, the U.S. Department of Defense has introduced Project G.I., an accelerated drone development program focused on deploying adaptable unmanned systems. The project prioritizes drones that are already technologically mature and require minimal rework.

Through Project G.I., developers will work more closely with end-users—soldiers—to refine UAS designs and ensure battlefield relevance. Submissions are open through December 2025, and the three best-performing drone solutions will be rewarded with a total of $20 million to aid in scaling and production.
