Pakistan has strengthened its coastal defense and amphibious mobility with the induction of three new 2400 TD hovercraft into the Pakistan Marines. The new platforms, designed for high-speed movement across creeks and tidal zones, will improve operational reach and responsiveness in southern Sindh’s complex littoral terrain. The move forms part of a broader modernization initiative to enhance Pakistan’s rapid deployment and amphibious operations capabilities.
During a visit to forward posts in the Creeks Area, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral reviewed operational preparedness and oversaw the formal induction ceremony. The Pakistan Navy highlighted the hovercraft’s ability to navigate shallow and obstacle-ridden environments, providing a crucial edge in surveillance, troop transport, and coastal security missions.
The 2400 TD hovercraft are particularly suited for operations across mudflats, mangrove belts, and estuarine waterways, where traditional boats are limited by depth and maneuverability. Their high mobility and amphibious capability make them essential for rapid insertion, extraction, and logistics support in dynamic coastal conditions.
According to naval officials, the introduction of these platforms marks a strategic boost to Pakistan’s littoral defense framework, reinforcing the Navy’s focus on operational readiness and technological modernization. The addition of hovercraft assets demonstrates Pakistan’s resolve to protect its coastal infrastructure and maritime interests through agile and advanced marine systems.
