Overland AI has secured $100 million in funding to scale its autonomous ground vehicle operations in support of US military forces, signaling growing confidence in the operational value of robotic systems on the battlefield. The funding will support expanded deployment of the company’s ULTRA autonomy platform across the US Army, Marine Corps, and US Special Operations Command.
The investment round was led by 8VC and included Point72 Ventures, Ascend Venture Capital, Shasta Ventures, Overmatch Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and StepStone Group. The financing package also features a $20 million venture debt facility from TriplePoint Capital. Overland AI said the funding will be used to accelerate production, deployment, and mission expansion of its autonomous ground vehicles.
According to the company, 2025 marked a key transition from testing to operational employment. Overland AI completed DARPA’s RACER autonomy program and broadened ULTRA’s mission set to include counter-UAS operations, contested logistics, battlefield resupply, and breaching tasks. These capabilities reflect the US military’s growing focus on autonomous systems to enhance survivability and sustain operations in contested environments.
The investment aligns with broader US defense efforts to integrate autonomy across land forces. Recent demonstrations include Milrem Robotics’ armed unmanned ground vehicle trials in 2024 and Project Convergence Capstone 4 in 2025, which featured semi-autonomous platforms such as SMET vehicles and Ghost robotic systems. Defense manufacturers including Oshkosh Defense and General Dynamics Land Systems have also advanced autonomous and hybrid robotic platforms to support future logistics, reconnaissance, and networked combat operations.
