Norway has approved a defense contract with Bertel O. Steen Defence & Security to deliver advanced sniper rifle sights. Valued at nearly 92 million NOK, the agreement includes Thermis Mk2 thermal scopes that enhance precision in all lighting conditions, making them effective against a variety of battlefield targets.
Once delivered, the scopes will be fitted to Barrett’s M107A1 12.7mm rifles, set to arrive in Norway later this year under a previous defense deal. The Thermis Mk2 optics are being produced by Theon International, a defense firm in Greece, and are scheduled for transfer to Norway in September 2025. This effort signifies Norway’s commitment to equipping its forces with the latest surveillance and engagement technologies.
