Norway is moving forward with a comprehensive modernization of its Skjold-class fast attack vessels through a new contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, valued at around 400 million Norwegian krone. The initiative focuses on upgrading combat systems, enhancing sensor performance, and improving overall platform reliability. Advanced fire-control radars and high-resolution electro-optical sensors will significantly boost situational awareness and enable precise engagement of small and agile threats, including unmanned aerial and surface systems. These enhancements are designed to ensure that the vessels remain highly effective across a broad range of maritime security missions, from coastal defense to high-speed interception operations.
