American defense company Leidos has introduced its Sea Dagger concept, a next-generation insertion craft being developed for the Royal Navy as part of the UK Commando Force modernization effort. The new platform aims to redefine how commandos are deployed in complex and contested environments.

The Sea Dagger can reach 40 knots (46 mph) and is marketed as the first craft of its scale to unite speed, range, payload capacity, and modular mission adaptability in a single design. It is envisioned to carry commando strike elements, tactical mobility vehicles, offboard systems, and combat loads across extended distances with sustained endurance.

Developed with input from naval engineers, subject matter experts, and UKCF representatives, the vessel emphasizes operational resilience. Its architecture integrates cutting-edge sensors, advanced weapons, and command-and-control systems optimized for modern naval warfare.

According to Leidos, the craft is designed to operate reliably under hostile conditions, including direct attacks and electronic disruptions. Alongside meeting Royal Navy requirements, the program also supports AUKUS maritime autonomy goals and complements the UK Strategic Defence Review, which seeks to reinforce Britain’s frontline combat readiness.
