French defense technology company Safran has unveiled the JIM SHARPHAWK, a next-generation infrared binocular system that succeeds the company’s fielded JIM Compact. The new model reflects Safran’s efforts to enhance soldier effectiveness with better sensors, optics, and networking features.

Equipped with cutting-edge sensor technology, the SHARPHAWK achieves around a 30 percent increase in detection, recognition, and identification performance. This capability ensures clearer observation of targets and threats during both day and night operations, where visual detail can mean the difference between mission success and failure.

Beyond its imaging upgrades, the binocular system is built to integrate seamlessly with tactical command-and-control networks. This added connectivity provides soldiers with direct links to shared battlefield data, strengthening situational awareness and ensuring quicker, more coordinated responses in fast-evolving combat environments.
