The second set of the AN/SPY-7(V)1 radar system has been supplied by Lockheed Martin for Japan’s ASEV missile defense ships. Prior to shipment, the radar equipment will be integrated and tested at the company’s facilities to verify system functionality and reduce potential technical complications during installation. This milestone builds on the first radar package delivered in June 2025 and contributes to Japan’s schedule of bringing the two vessels into operational service in 2027 and 2028. The transaction took place under a Direct Commercial Sale arrangement coordinated by Mitsubishi Corporation, highlighting cooperation between US defense industry and Japanese partners.
