The Taiwanese Army plans to stage a live-fire drill to measure combat effectiveness as it inducts advanced weapons, Taiwan Times has reported.
Units are supporting the exercise through ammunition inspections, equipment servicing, and coordination with civilian communities. According to Commander Lu Kun-hsiu, the exercise ensures training priorities are clearly understood at every command level.
Major weapons deliveries will peak next year, with 2026 marking the height of arrivals. In 2025, Taiwan will take delivery of 108 M1A2T tanks, 14 Volcano systems, and 18 HIMARS units. Eleven HIMARS are already operational with ATACMS. TOW-2B and Javelin systems were completed last year.
The country is also broadening defense initiatives, including a partnership between Shield AI and NCSIST to deploy AI-enabled unmanned technologies. Taipei is expanding Patriot missile capabilities and procuring IRST21 Legion ES sensors from Lockheed Martin.
