Lithuania is allocating €300 million ($337.4 million) to strengthen its defense industry and position itself as a regional hub for security-related innovation. Launched under the Vytis Initiative, the program aims to serve as a comprehensive support platform for businesses, offering assistance in concept development and export promotion. Approximately 100 defense firms are expected to benefit from the initiative, which will also enhance the country’s research capabilities in line with both national and global innovation goals. Additionally, the project seeks to resolve long-standing challenges in Lithuania’s defense sector, such as limited early-stage funding, inadequate certification and testing infrastructure, poor inter-agency coordination, and insufficient innovation financing.
