American defense firm Leidos has introduced the Sea Dart—a highly configurable UUV intended to make advanced undersea operations widely accessible. The Sea Dart costs a fraction of legacy systems, boasting a base price near $150,000, while still offering broad mission reconfigurability through modular sensor and equipment fitting.
This innovation targets both defense and research customers by providing reliable, cost-efficient subsea solutions that don’t compromise on capability, thus reshaping expectations for large-scale, persistent underwater presence.
