Ukraine’s “Sunray” system represents an emerging approach to counter-drone warfare. The silent laser platform produces no visible beam, complicating enemy detection. Designed with an optical targeting structure and camera-assisted tracking, the system demonstrated the ability to destroy a drone within seconds during testing. Its low operating cost and reusable energy-based firing mechanism make it suitable for defending against repeated drone incursions without depleting missile stocks.
