Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and Safran Power Units have announced the renewal of their long-term agreement for the supply of TR40 turbojet engines for the Naval Strike Missile (NSM), further cementing their successful partnership. The updated contract includes an order for several hundred engines to support growing global demand.
Safran Power Units has reliably provided TR40 propulsion systems for the NSM for years. The missile’s broad adoption within NATO and the European Union has driven both companies to strengthen their collaboration and streamline production ramp-up efforts.
The agreement secures a strong production backlog for Safran Power Units into the next decade, enabling strategic investments to expand industrial capacity and boost sub-supplier output.
The NSM, developed by Kongsberg and first introduced by the Royal Norwegian Navy in 2012, is a highly effective anti-ship missile that offers exceptional operational capabilities and survivability. It has since been chosen by numerous allied nations, including the United States, Poland, Canada, Germany, Romania, Australia, Malaysia, Spain, the UK, Belgium, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
