The US Department of Defense continues to expand its counter-drone capabilities through a $5.2-million contract awarded by Joint Interagency Task Force 401 to Perennial Autonomy. The agreement covers the delivery of the Bumblebee V2, a compact FPV multi-rotor drone designed to kinetically intercept small unmanned aerial threats. Built to NDAA compliance standards, the system provides a cost-effective option for countering drones while minimizing the risk of unintended damage. Initial deliveries are planned for March, when the Army’s Global Response Force will conduct operational testing in support of the Lieutenant General Gavin Joint Innovation Outpost. Established in January 2026, the JIOP serves as a hub for accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies that improve soldier lethality and survivability. Since its creation in August 2025, JIATF-401 has played a central role in streamlining counter-UAS efforts across the military. Its first Replicator 2 acquisition involved DroneHunter interceptors, and subsequent initiatives have focused on both active and passive defenses. By combining rapid procurement, industry engagement, and practical infrastructure protection measures, the task force aims to stay ahead of evolving drone threats.
