The US Army has signed a $632 million contract with MSM North America, a unit of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), to establish a new state-of-the-art artillery ammunition facility. The project underscores Washington’s effort to expand industrial capacity for large-caliber munitions.

The upcoming Future Artillery Complex (FAC) will be located at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. Construction is set to conclude in just over three years, with full-scale production slated for September 2029.

Designed with 21st-century manufacturing tools, the plant will offer scalable and efficient solutions for the explosive loading, assembly, and packing of artillery rounds. The modern facility aims to lower costs while ensuring rapid adaptability to military requirements.

At peak capacity, the complex will manufacture 36,000 155mm shells per month, significantly enhancing the United States’ and its allies’ ability to maintain combat readiness in light of increasing geopolitical tensions worldwide.
