The UK Royal Navy’s prospective Extra Large Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (XLAUV) was launched at Plymouth’s Turnchapel Wharf by British unmanned systems firm MSubs. The milestone is a component of London’s “Cetus Project,” which aims to build a fleet of crewless submarines to improve the military’s capacity for contemporary undersea combat.Following delivery, the ships will be sent out on their own to guard the nation’s vital infrastructure and keep an eye on submerged activity around its borders.
