HII has announced its selection for the Advanced Technology Support Program V, joining 11 other defense and technology firms under a $25.4 billion multiple-award contract that will run for up to 10 years. The ATSP5 program provides engineering, microelectronics, and software modernization solutions to the US Department of Defense and a range of federal agencies.
Administered by the US Defense Microelectronics Activity, ATSP5 serves as a rapid-access contracting vehicle for advanced technology development, system upgrades, and sustainment. The program is specifically designed to address electronic system obsolescence, accelerate deployment timelines, and support the integration of emerging technologies required to counter new and evolving threats.
Through ATSP5, HII engineers will apply specialized expertise in reverse engineering, component assurance, and system redevelopment, enabling legacy platforms to be modernized and redeployed. The company’s work will span both hardware and software domains, supported by a model-based technical framework that improves efficiency, interoperability, and long-term maintainability.
ATSP5 streamlines defense procurement by providing agencies with faster access to pre-qualified industry partners and enabling modular acquisition strategies. Its scope includes research, analysis, design, software development, simulation, integration, testing, and limited extended production, with progress monitored through structured Program Management Reviews to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and performance goals.
