Hanwha Systems has been awarded a contract worth 54.7 billion won ($39.7 million) to develop a prototype multi-function radar (MFR) for South Korea’s next-generation Long-range Surface-to-Air Missile II (L-SAM II) system. The new radar will offer enhanced detection capabilities, including real-time tracking of multiple incoming threats and advanced algorithms tailored for high-altitude interceptions. It is also expected to significantly outperform the current L-SAM radar in terms of range.
