General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has officially delivered the first Eagle 6×6 Medium Protected Medical Vehicle to the German Armed Forces, fulfilling a portion of a contract initiated in 2020. The handover occurred at the Medical Training Regiment in Feldkirchen, Bavaria, where it was integrated into a live field medical response exercise.

Germany’s defense ministry has committed $159 million toward this procurement, which covers the delivery of up to 80 vehicles in total. The new Eagle 6×6 vehicles will enhance the Bundeswehr’s current fleet of armored medical transports, supplementing existing platforms like the Eagle Ground Reconnaissance System and Boxer Multi-Role Armored Vehicle.

This versatile 7-meter (23-foot) vehicle offers a payload capacity of 6,000 kilograms (13,200 lbs) and can carry up to 14 personnel, depending on configuration. It is powered by a 360-horsepower diesel engine, an Allison five-speed automatic transmission, and features a De Dion independent axle suspension system for increased mobility.

Capable of reaching speeds up to 110 km/h (68 mph) with a maximum range of 700 km (435 miles), the ambulance version includes a modular stretcher system and advanced medical equipment to support the treatment and evacuation of up to two patients simultaneously in field conditions.
