The US Navy has selected General Dynamics Information Technology for a $988 million digital modernization contract, reinforcing efforts to enhance the connectivity and resilience of naval command-and-control networks. The initiative focuses on upgrading the systems that link ships, aircraft, and shore-based facilities across the fleet.

The contract supports the Navy’s Ship and Air C5ISR Systems Support program, covering command, control, communications, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. Structured with a one-year base period, four additional option years, and a six-month extension, the award provides flexibility to support long-term fleet modernization requirements.

As part of the agreement, GDIT will deliver system upgrades, integration services, and lifecycle maintenance for C5ISR systems used on all classes of surface combatants, including guided missile vessels and aircraft carriers. The scope also extends to Coast Guard platforms, unmanned and crewed aircraft, and shore-based command centers, ensuring interoperability across naval and joint operations.

The award follows a series of major US Navy investments in digital and combat system upgrades. Recent contracts include Lockheed Martin’s microelectronics enhancement for MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, Leidos’ unmanned systems support for Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, and Kratos’ radar sustainment work on Aegis-equipped ships. Together, these efforts underscore the Navy’s focus on maintaining operational readiness while advancing next-generation maritime warfare capabilities.
