As part of a long-standing collaboration that began in 1986, GE Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will build and test the engines, which are renowned for their dependability and performance, in Bangalore, India, on October 17, 2024.India is constructing the missile ships, which will have cutting-edge anti-surface weapons and be able to go up to 35 knots. Six LM2500 marine gas turbine engine kits, in addition to GE Aerospace-provided composite enclosures and auxiliary systems, will power the ships.
Given that the LM2500 also powers other important Indian naval assets, such as the P17 and P17A frigates and the IAC-1 Vikrant aircraft carrier, this partnership represents a continuation of GE Aerospace’s services to the Indian Navy. With more than 714 ships depending on the engine, the LM2500 is widely used in fleets throughout the world.
