Summa Defence of Finland has begun deliveries of its Zeus FPV drone systems to Ukraine, supplying a new generation of tactical unmanned platforms developed specifically for modern battlefield conditions. The first shipment follows the successful completion of an industrial readiness program in 2025, carried out in cooperation with a Ukrainian partner to validate performance and scalability.
The Zeus FPV series consists of three drone sizes, all produced and tested in Finland and categorized primarily as dual-use systems. Built for tactical employment, the drones can be configured with either radio-frequency or fiber-optic control, providing resilience against electronic warfare and enabling mission-specific adaptability.
The mid-sized 11-inch Zeus offers significant flexibility, supporting payloads of 3 kilograms in fiber-optic mode and up to 5 kilograms when radio-controlled. In its radio-controlled configuration, the drone exceeds 20 kilometers in range and achieves a top speed of around 101 km/h, while the fiber-optic variant emphasizes secure, interference-resistant operations.
For heavier payload requirements, the 13-inch Zeus increases lift capacity and endurance, while the compact 2.5-inch Zeus microdrone focuses on close-range reconnaissance missions. Weighing only 225 grams, the smallest variant provides up to 10 minutes of endurance and a 2-kilometer operational range, underscoring the versatility of the Zeus family across reconnaissance, strike, and tactical support roles.
