French company Exail and Spanish firm Grafinta will equip Airbus’ SIRTAP tactical drone with the UmiX-40 Inertial Measurement Unit, a compact and high-precision system designed for space-limited platforms. Featuring Exail’s in-house fiber-optic gyroscopes and vibrating beam accelerometers, the UmiX-40 ensures reliable navigation and stabilization, even in environments where GPS signals are unavailable. It offers low noise, low latency, high bandwidth, and accurate 3D rotation sensing. With its plug-and-play design, the system supports extended intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, enabling the SIRTAP to navigate precisely from takeoff to landing, even under degraded conditions.
