At the 2025 Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, Diehl Defence and HENSOLDT announced plans to deepen their collaboration in the area of ground-based air defence. Drawing on existing, proven joint systems that are already in production and can be delivered quickly, the companies are committed to offering state-of-the-art solutions to defend against both current and emerging threats. These systems are software-defined and leverage the latest technologies to remain adaptable to new challenges.
Modern air defence faces increasingly complex and diverse threats. Beyond traditional aircraft and helicopters, defence forces must now address the growing dangers posed by cruise missiles, drones, supersonic and hypersonic weapons, and particularly ballistic missiles. Diehl Defence and HENSOLDT are focused on improving the coordination between sensors and weapon systems to counter this evolving threat landscape.
The two companies have a long history of working together, especially on Diehl Defence’s IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defence system, which successfully integrates Airbus’ IBMS-FC battle management software with HENSOLDT’s radar solutions. Their future collaboration will prioritize advancements like AI-enabled target recognition using the TRML-4D fire-control radar, enhanced sensor fusion, and AI-driven situational analysis and mission planning, which are key areas for the next phase of joint system evolution.
