The Swedish Navy has contracted Rheinmetall to supply Seasnake 30 light naval gun systems for its Combat Boat 90 platforms.
The initial €63 million order comprises eight close-in weapon systems, ammunition packages, spare parts, and four years of support services, with provisions for up to 29 additional units. Delivery of the first systems is expected in 2028.
Featuring electro-optical cameras, infrared sensors, and a laser rangefinder, the remotely operated gun can automatically detect and track several targets simultaneously. Its revolver cannon fires 30mm rounds at 1,100 rounds per minute.
Rheinmetall hailed the deal as a significant milestone, marking the Seasnake 30’s first entry into a NATO fleet. The system will provide anti-aircraft protection for Sweden’s amphibious forces, supported by Spexer 2000 radar systems.
