BAE Systems has received a £454 million UK MoD contract to supply 38 ECRS Mk2 radars for the RAF’s Tranche 3 Eurofighter Typhoons, enhancing the aircraft’s target detection and tracking capabilities. Production will take place at Leonardo’s facilities in Scotland and England, while integration will be conducted by BAE in Lancashire. The sensors are scheduled to enter service before 2030, under the broader £2.35 billion Eurofighter upgrade initiative. The deal complements previous export contracts and strengthens the RAF’s air-defense capabilities while preparing for the eventual transition to the next-generation GCAP platform being developed with Italy and Japan.
