Raytheon UK has been contracted by BAE Systems to equip CV90 infantry fighting vehicles with the Landshield Plus GPS anti-jamming system, reinforcing the platform’s protection against hostile electronic disruption. The technology will ensure secure and reliable navigation in operational theaters where electronic warfare is a growing threat.
Landshield Plus is an all-in-one solution that merges an antenna and processor to identify and counter jamming attempts in real time. The system not only monitors interfering signals but also pinpoints their source, improving vehicle survivability and tactical awareness. Introduced in 2019, it includes spoofing detection features to guard against counterfeit GPS transmissions that can generate false positional data.
When several vehicles are fitted with the system, Landshield Plus offers an added advantage: its networked sensors can triangulate the position of hostile jammers or spoofers. This transforms the technology from a defensive shield into an intelligence-gathering tool with potential strategic benefits.
Operating across both L1 and L2 GPS frequency bands, Landshield Plus can suppress interference from up to six jammers at once. Deliveries for the CV90 program are slated to take place between 2025 and 2029, marking a key milestone in strengthening the vehicle’s electronic resilience.
