India’s Axiscades Technologies and French defense company Cilas have inked a memorandum of agreement to bring the Helma P high energy laser counter drone system to India.
The system will be integrated with Axiscades’ command and control architecture and its mobile, vehicle-mounted counter-drone platforms under the project.
By indigenizing sensors and command and control, along with providing local maintenance, India will be able to move closer to its goal of self-sufficiency in the defense industry while also meeting the nation’s operational needs.
Helma P
In open operational theaters and dense urban settings, the tested system can accurately identify, track, and neutralize agile targets.
The Helma-P has already been put into use, including at the Paris 2024 Olympics, proving that it is effective in a high-profile security context.
It has a greater engagement range of 1.7 kilometers (0.62-4.34 miles) and can neutralize threats by physically destroying them or optically jamming them.
The system produces its effects silently with a little visible signature and uses no ammunition, which eliminates the cost of firing each shot.
Helma-P can neutralize robots, radars, improvised explosive devices, rockets, artillery, and mortars in addition to unmanned aerial systems.
