AeroVironment has unveiled its newest VTOL drone innovation, the Vapor Compact Long Endurance (CLE), engineered to meet the evolving requirements of modern military and civilian missions. The Vapor CLE is an all-electric helicopter UAS in the Group 2 category, featuring a modular open systems layout. This supports a broad array of mission payloads—over 26 types—enabling customized sensor packages, electronic warfare capabilities, and robust communication support.
The system stands out for its capacity to deliver lethal ordnance, such as mortar rounds and grenades, as well as other guided munitions for tactical strike operations. Ruggedized for operations in extreme environments, the drone’s compact frame facilitates rapid deployment and quick reconfiguration in the field. It boasts two hours of endurance and a payload capacity of up to 24 lbs, delivering superior performance over conventional quadcopters and helicopter UAS platforms.
Vapor CLE is equipped with cutting-edge AI for autonomous flight, rapid target acquisition, and streamlined mission workflows. The drone is also designed for easy transportation—case-to-flight in just two minutes—and can sustain operations over extended distances with excellent stability and resilience against wind and weather.
AeroVironment’s new drone supports contemporary battlefield demands, emphasizing adaptability, electric power, and operational efficiency as core principles of next-generation unmanned aviation solutions. With Vapor CLE, the company reinforces its position as a leader in innovative UAS development for both defense and security operations.
