The Australian government has committed 5 million Australian dollars ($3.28 million) in a new contract with DroneShield, enabling the domestic firm to deliver portable counter-drone equipment to the nation’s armed forces. As part of the arrangement, the company will provide its cutting-edge Drone Gun MKIV, known for jamming hostile drones, along with the RF Patrol system that excels at detecting threats from unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition to supplying these countermeasures, DroneShield has demonstrated its willingness to contribute to the wider Project LAND 156, an ambitious program designed to rapidly equip Australia’s military with advanced drone defense solutions. The company hopes to play a pivotal role in systems integration, collaborating with a range of domestic and global partners.
This recent contract falls within the broader scope of the project’s second stage—which is backed by a 16.9-million Australian dollar ($11.1 million) budget aimed at the procurement and deployment of drone and counter-drone assets. DroneShield’s involvement reflects the government’s prioritization of aerial security as both drone usage and related risks continue to grow.
