Red Cat Holdings has announced a new military order for its Black Widow small unmanned aircraft system from an undisclosed customer in the Asia-Pacific region. The company said deliveries are planned for later this year, though the total number of systems has not been disclosed.
Under the contract, each system configuration will include two Black Widow aircraft, a ground control station, and supporting mission equipment. Red Cat noted that this marks the second recent selection of the Black Widow by an Asia-Pacific military customer, underscoring the platform’s growing adoption among regional defense forces.
The Black Widow is purpose-built for tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, offering a lightweight yet rugged design suited for demanding operational environments. The system incorporates secure, military-grade communications to ensure reliable ISR data transmission and mission execution.
In its standard configuration, the Black Widow weighs approximately 4.26 pounds and can fly at speeds of up to 29 miles per hour. It delivers more than 50 minutes of endurance and an operational range of about 5 miles, enabling effective short- and medium-range ISR coverage. The platform can also be integrated with Reveal Farsight 3D mapping software, providing real-time terrain visualization, target identification, tracking, and classification to support mission planning and rapid decision-making.
