The US Air Force selected BAE Systems for a major defense contract to build an upgraded counter-UAS weapon using APKWS technology. The new system replaces continuous laser targeting with an infrared seeker, allowing faster drone interception. Designed for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, the weapon improves air-to-air engagement and increases mission effectiveness. Production includes 300 prototype missiles to support testing and operational needs, strengthening regional security operations.
