Altechna, a Lithuanian photonics business, has been chosen to participate in a large-scale project to create Europe’s first 100-kilowatt laser weapon that is entirely independent. The project, called TALOS-TWO (Tactical Advanced Laser Optical Systems-TWO), intends to improve air, ground, and sea systems by giving them a potent directed-energy weapon that will increase their precision and lethality. The European Defense Fund is funding the 25 million euro ($27 million) project, which is anticipated to be finished by 2030.
