Lockheed Martin has integrated artificial intelligence into its radar systems to significantly improve targeting precision and accelerate the identification of potential threats.
The defense giant recently conducted successful tests of an AI-enhanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system designed to autonomously detect maritime targets with a high degree of accuracy.
These trials, carried out along the U.S. West Coast, involved collaboration between Lockheed Martin’s AI Center, the Skunk Works innovation division, and the Rotary and Mission Systems unit. The AI-enabled SAR system demonstrated the capability to detect and classify targets in near real-time, marking a substantial advancement in situational awareness and threat response technologies.
