Aeva, a California-based developer of advanced sensing technologies, has launched Omni, a short-range 4D LiDAR sensor aimed at expanding the capabilities of physical artificial intelligence systems. The new sensor is designed to deliver a broader and more detailed view of surrounding environments, improving perception for autonomous and semi-autonomous platforms.
The Omni LiDAR is engineered for seamless integration into a variety of AI-driven platforms, ranging from self-driving vehicles and drones to industrial robots, warehouse automation systems, and defense applications. Its ability to capture real-time spatial and motion data supports enhanced object detection, tracking, and navigation in close-proximity operations.
According to Aeva, Omni addresses growing demand for compact, high-performance LiDAR solutions that can support fast, intelligent decision-making at short ranges. The sensor’s 4D perception capability enables machines to interpret complex environments with greater accuracy and responsiveness.
As part of its manufacturing strategy, Aeva has partnered with LG Innotek of South Korea to handle hardware integration, mass production, and quality control. The collaboration is expected to strengthen supply chain reliability and support broader commercial and defense adoption of Omni as Aeva scales its LiDAR portfolio.
