The Italian Army has expanded its modernization program with a fresh order for 658 tactical logistics trucks from Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV), increasing the total number of vehicles on contract to 2,111. The additional purchase follows the December 2024 deal for 1,453 units and pushes the delivery timeline to 2039, reinforcing Italy’s long-term investment in modern logistics capabilities.
IDV confirmed that the newly ordered trucks will be built to the company’s most recent standard military truck configuration, offering improved reliability and enhanced adaptability for diverse mission needs. The fleet will span several variants, including transport trucks, water and fuel tankers, container-handling vehicles, recovery platforms, and tow-capable systems, broadening the Army’s logistical flexibility.
In addition to vehicle production, IDV will supply a full support and maintenance package, covering technical assistance, sustainment operations, and overall lifecycle support. These services are designed to ensure consistent operational readiness and reduce downtime across the entire fleet.
The introduction of the new trucks marks a major step in replacing outdated logistics platforms currently in service. By transitioning to a standardized, modernized fleet, the Italian Army aims to strengthen its logistical backbone and improve performance in a wide range of missions—from day-to-day transport tasks to demanding operational deployments requiring high availability and rapid response.
